First look at the new Valentine’s, new name

Don’t get comfortable calling it the “new Valentine’s”. The venue opening at 335 Central Avenue by Valentine’s owner Howard Glassman will not be a reincarnation. Many things will be different, but one part will stay the same — The Low Beat, as it is now properly named, will continue to deliver the same quality shows that we have learned to love and expect from Glassman’s crew. Work has been ongoing to open the space housed in the former Cagney’s bar next to Pauly’s Hotel. Stage pieces from upstairs Valentine’s have already been brought over to make up the new stage, which will sit in front of a kitchen. The bathrooms look like an improvement, but still offer opportunities for late night scribes to mark, including one tribute to No Pepper that has already popped up. No matter what the name or location, little bits of Valentine’s will always remain.
