From 2016-2020, Ian Macks wrote 80 poems detailing a journey to solidifying an identity for himself not at the mercy of others. Triumph, tribulation, growth and setbacks, animosity and love permeate through the entire collection with life as the muse and the capital region as the setting. After delays due to COVID, Identity Crisis is due for release this summer with equal amount of support and critics. Regardless of one’s perspective, the raw vulnerability on display in Macks’ work will grasp your attention, leaving no choice but to take note and listen.
Patrick’s work has been published internationally, including on the front pages of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. He lives in downtown Albany.
