Reimagining Public Safety Through Community Oversight, Part I

AVillage Inc. invites our community to a two-part discussion of the history of community oversight of policing in Albany, community and police interactions, procedure reform, and modernization.
This event will include a presentation from the City of Albany Community Police Review Board (CPRB) covering the creation of the CPRB, Local Law J, CPRB’s complaint process, and how to use the complaint process to achieve accountability. The series will also touch on the CPRB as one of the facets of procedural justice.

Part I will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 5:30 PM at the Albany Public Library – Main Branch, located at 161 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY.

Part II will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 5:30 PM. Location to be announced.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
The event is co-sponsored by the City of Albany Community Police Review Board.
