The RED Bookshelf is inviting everyone to join our cause!
We will be hosting a night of fun and games to raise money for our community based literacy organization. Our mission is to inspire children to read! This is a cause we can all support and impact collectively!
We distribute free books throughout the community on our red bookshelves. They are located in schools, barbershops, doctor’s offices and anywhere else children frequent. By providing them ACCESS to an unlimited supply of books, they have the opportunity to explore new worlds, interests, careers and experiences that shape their lives.
At our fundraiser, attendees will also have the opportunity to experience how our organization encourages young people to practice their literacy skills and motivate them to continue independently. We will be bringing the F.A.T.H.E.R. box we created, a box of literacy based, superhero themed games, so that everyone can play and understand how we do what we do!
DJ TGIF will be providing his blend of story selections and setting the tone for the evening! DJ TGIF is an Albany native and entrepreneur who provides fun and safe activities for everyone to enjoy. Participants will receive a short training by staff at The Yard, then encouraged to mingle with others as we play games. Axe throwing training will be provided by The Yard and there is no experience required!
This will be a fun night of music and games as we support young readers together. This is what community looks like. Come and allow us to share our world with you!
